Boosting Innovation and Support Market Expansion, by Ray Walshe
Abstract
Standardisation is an integral part of the Innovation Lifecycle. Novel research and invention drives new technologies and science, followed by a plethora of first mover applications attempting to gain a foothold in the new market, resulting in a chaotic landscape with multiple, diverse, incompatible and competing solutions. Survival of the fittest is maintained via standardisation, providing global consensus on developing best practice and creating an international advantage for standardised products in the market. This presentation will discuss how best to support innovation in new technologies, interoperability and globalisation for the market via European Union standardisation funding.
