The European ecosystem of Large Language Models

Stefanie Baade

Deputy Managing Director at German AI Association

Presentation of the German AI Association’s efforts to build a European LLM ecosystem. The development of strong, competitive LLMs ‘made in Europe’ often fails due to the necessary access to compute time. Instead, we rely heavily on providers in China and the US. A strong European network of initiatives, industry and SMEs is therefore needed to promote the construction of supercomputing centres in Europe. The presentation focused on how such a European network can be achieved.
