ESSAI Summer schools: a longlasting outcome of TAILOR project

ESSAI is a new yearly event organized under the auspices of the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EurAI)

ESSAI intends to serve as a central hub for PhD students and young researchers working in “all aspects of AI”. The need for such a school emerged in early discussions within CLAIRE and, drawing inspiration from the successful model of ESSLLI (European Summer School on Logic, Language and Information), it was made concrete by the ICT-48 EU research network TAILOR and EurAI.

ESSAI 2023, the first edition of ESSAI, has been held in Ljubljana from July 24 to July 28, 2023, organized jointly as the 3rd TAILOR Summer School on Artificial Intelligence and colocated with ESSLLI 2023. ESSAI 2023 also included an ACAI tutorial track on the theme “AI and Science”.

ESSAI 2023 was a hugely successful and exciting event: over 30 courses and tutorials offered by more than 70 lecturers attracted more than 570 participants from all over the world. It offered them a unique opportunity to broaden and deepen their AI expertise and expand their research networks. A captivating keynote by the renowned Jure Leskovec, evening panels, industrial exhibits, and fun social events rounded up the program. The school enjoyed the honorary patronage of Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, and her committed and active participation in tutorials and panels.

Overall, ESSAI 23 was an unforgettable experience.
